Symposium B4. Bio-based Fuel and Chemical

Organizers:
Prof. Claire R. ShenNational Tsing Hua University, Taiwan
Dr. Guang-Way JangIndustrial Technology Research Institute, Taiwan

Scope:

A broad spectrum of bio-based fuels and chemicals can be produced from renewable feedstocks such as lignocellulosic sugars, protein waste, carbon dioxide, and synthesis gases. Topics in this session will highlight the advances in the development of microbial strains for chemical production, fuel cells, and algal biodiesel. Degradation of lignocellulosic feedstocks by enzyme display and progress in the fermentation process optimization will also be included in this session.

Topics:
  1. Strain development and synthetic biology
  2. Biodiesel from Algae
  3. Microbial Fuel Cells
  4. Renewable feedstocks
  5. Feedstock pretreatment and fermentation process optimization
